2. Cornerback

This is one that’s a little more interesting to figure out. As it stands right now, the Browns are fine at cornerback on paper. They have Denzel Ward and Greg Newsome II as their primary starters outside and Troy Hill is one of the best slot corners in the game.

With Hill and Newsome being added this season, that pushes Greedy Williams all the way to No. 4 on the depth chart. In all honesty, Greedy would be one of the best fourth-corners in the entire NFL.

The problem is, three of the four primary cornerbacks all have significant injury concerns. Ward has missed 11 games in three seasons whereas Newsome missed 14 while appearing in 17 during his time at Northwestern. Then there’s Williams, who missed 20 games in two seasons including all of 2020 with a nerve injury in his shoulder that might not be 100 percent yet — if ever.

Cleveland does have a lot of faith in second-year player A.J. Green — they even gave him a massive guarantee when he went undrafted last season. Even with that fondness, it’s hard to imagine them feeling as though they would be fine starting a game with Green playing outside with the No. 1s should a couple of their players go down — and based on history, that’s likely to happen.

It’s a tough spot since the guys they have are good but the durability concerns are also there.
