Cleveland Browns: Usual insults and baked bean pop tarts
By Kayli Long
As all 32 teams in the NFL release their 2021 schedules, the Cleveland Browns were a part of the Charger’s release day comical insults
Each NFL team across the league used their creativity and sense of humor to announce their 2021 season schedules. The Los Angeles Chargers went above and beyond to create something that would stick in the brains of anyone and everyone that watched it.
To accomplish this, they had Joey Bosa presenting a PowerPoint, full of slides poking fun of each team they will face in 2021. The Cleveland Browns happen to be one of those teams on their schedule and presentation full of “insults.”
Truthfully there is no limit to the things that the Browns could be made of for. Whether it’s “the drive”, “red right 88”, or even “the fumble”, but the Chargers went with something that is incredibly common, “mistake on the lake.” This term for the city of Cleveland has been used in print since 1964, and is something most are used to hearing.
Joey Bosa presenting the Browns as the “mistake on the lake” and having “nothing to do” is not news to the organization or the fan base. While this may have “offended” some, humorous redemption was gained when the Pittsburgh Steelers’ slide said that their team motto is “The Browns in the Browns.”
Along with the Bosa created slideshow, the Charger’s twitter account had taken to the fun before the schedules were released. The account went through each of the 2021 opponents and compared them to a flavor of pop tart. The Browns were compared to baked bean flavored pop tarts.
These social media breakthroughs have been comical for all involved, but the real matchup between the teams will take place during week 5 of the NFL season. The Chargers will host the Browns in L.A. on October 10 at 4:05 p.m. est.
