The Cleveland Browns will have a Week 1 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. This game is being seen as the beginning of the Browns long-awaited ‘Revenge Tour’.

The National Football League announced on the morning of May 12th what the week 1 matchup would look like. The release of the schedules ahead of training camp creates hype around the league for players and fans. When fans and players got ahold of the week 1 matchup for the Cleveland Browns, instant “season hype” broke out.

To kick off the 2021 NFL season, the Browns will be matched up against the Kansas City Chiefs on September 12th at 4:25 pm. Fans across the league have begun labeling this Week 1 matchup as the official “revenge tour” for the Browns.

Flashback to the 2020 season, the Chiefs eliminated the Browns from their long-awaited playoff run. The game was back and forth for a while, and of course, had penalty calls that left social media erupting in disagreeance for weeks. Regardless of whether or not the calls were correct, the game ended, and the Browns were sent home from their first playoff run since 2002.

Many have said during this offseason that the Browns’ front office is building a team that is meant to beat or strongly contend with Andy Reid’s Chiefs.

These comments have been fueled by recent “defense-heavy” free agency signings and draft picks. It is without a question that the defense needed a lot of work to be able to be considered AFC Championship contenders, let alone Super Bowl contenders.

Baker Mayfield will be looking to lead the team to their first week 1 win since the 2004 season, when they defeated the Baltimore Ravens. The pressure is on to not only win the week 1 matchup but to have a winning season and a continued revenge tour into the playoffs.
