Overall Average Ranking

"Saquon Barkley: 3.625 Nick Chubb: 3.75 Kerryon Johnson: 5.125 Boston Scott & Ronald Jones: 6.25 Chase Edmonds: 6.375 Sony Michel: 6.625 Nyheim Hines: 6.75 Rashad Penny: 7 Justin Jackson & Royce Freeman: 7.375"

Driving home what ended up being my main takeaway from this analysis, Saquon Barkley and Nick Chubb are on a different level compared to their counterparts in their draft class. They’re really a 1A, 1B, type of situation for who is the best running back in their draft class.

Considering the Browns got Nick Chubb a whole 33 picks after the Giants got Barkley, I feel that the Cleveland Browns definitely had the better pick.

It’s interesting to note that Kerryon Johnson and Boston Scott, two of the best running backs in this class outside of the top tier, are no longer on the teams that drafted them. Both are now currently competing for spots on the Philadelphia Eagles, who will see a lot of change in their running back room behind Miles Sanders.

There are a few guys who found some success out of this draft class on teams that didn’t draft them, so while they may have been a bad pick for their draft teams, they weren’t busts overall.

All of the running backs taken within the first 50 picks of this draft class have ended up in the top 10 at their position, but that really should be expected.

This class is full of guys who are evidence you shouldn’t take a running back high, but also has guys like Nick Chubb who proved that a running back with a top 35 draft pick can pay out handsomely for your organization if you draft the right guy.
