The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including Jarvis Landry having a historic run for seven seasons now

One thing Cleveland Browns fans seem to get worked up about is the status of wide receiver Jarvis Landry. There’s a small portion of the fan base that would like to see a more explosive wideout but there are even more who will vehemently defend No. 80 as the catalyst for the culture change in Cleveland.

Whatever your stance on Landry is, it’s hard to argue that he hasn’t given his all to this team. Since joining the Browns in 2018, Landry has amassed 236 receptions for 2,990 yards and 13 touchdowns. His worst statistical season was last year as he battled a hip issue, a rib injury, and a week off due to being in close contact with a staff member who had COVID.

Even with all that, he still had 72 receptions for 840 yards which continued an impressive streak as he’s now the only player in NFL history with 70-or more receptions in each of his first seven seasons in the league.

That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Jarvis Landry set apart in NFL history through his first seven seasons — Jared Mueller, Browns Wire

"“While Landry will never be a top receiving threat, his ability to stay healthy, play while dinged up, and produce consistent numbers is impressive. That no other player has done what he has done is not arguable. While he is likely overpaid, his production is unmatched.”"

As Mueller said, Landry is not a top receiving threat in the way players such as Julio Jones or DeAndre Hopkins have been. But he’s someone who will play through anything and that’s why he racks up the numbers he does. Availablity is huge in the NFL and Landry is constantly there giving it his all.

Will the Browns’ overhauled defense jell in time for the opener vs. the Chiefs with virtual OTAs? Hey, Mary Kay! — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“The teams that are participating fully in OTAs, such as the Chiefs, could have a jump on the teams that are skipping, so the Browns will have to be extremely efficient in training camp.”"

It won’t be easy for the defense to be up to speed with a possible nine new starters, but that doesn’t mean it will be impossible for them. Mary Kay added that she believes they will do everything they can to be ready and while the Chiefs are a rough draw in Week 1, it’s also a chance to really assert themselves right out of the gate.

Marvin Wilson, boom or bust?

Brendon Bolan looks at Marvin Wilson’s rise and fall and sees how the Browns landed him after the 2021 NFL Draft. He also asks if this will be a ‘boom or bust’ for the franchise.
