The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including the unlikely story of Bernie Kosar offering his home to an imprisoned mobster

One story that can be filed under “no one saw that coming” surfaced on Monday when it was revealed that former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar is offering his home to a former mobster who is seeking release from prison.

Kevin McTaggart who was connected to some bad people back in the day was convicted in 1983 for murder and drug trafficking. He has, however, been reformed according to many people who are asking for him to be giving another chance at living his life outside of the prison walls.

And one person who really has gone to bat for him is Kosar, who has also said he would employ McTaggart.

That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

3News Investigates: Former Browns QB Bernie Kosar offers his home to imprisoned mobster seeking early release — Phil Trexler, Rachel Polansky, WKYC

"“I firmly believe in giving deserving people a second chance in life. I feel confident Kevin will continue to live a righteous life, which he has exhibited during his incarceration. I believe he has much he can still contribute to society.”"

Right now, McTaggart is still in federal prison — and there’s no word if he will be released. There are also people who have written letters saying they fear for their lives if he were to be back on the street. It’s a sticky situation and it’s not one I expected Kosar to be diving into.

Watching fellow asthmatic Myles Garrett struggle after COVID-19 confirmed Andrew Billings’ decision to opt out, but now ‘I’m here to play’ — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“It made me realize, ‘Thank God that didn’t happen to me,’’’ Billings told cleveland.com in a phone interview. “I played with asthma all of my life, so seeing him go through that, I could relate.’’"

There was no denying that COVID-19 affected Garrett down the stretch. He was visibly winded and that kept him off the field more than he would have liked. The good news is, he appears to be back to full health, and Billings’ addition will only make that D-line better.

Browns: 5 players who won’t be on the roster by Week 1 — Brad Berreman, FanSided

"“Trade rumors around Njoku seem as old as time by now, but here he is still on the Browns’ roster. In 13 games last season the former first-round pick had 19 receptions for 213 yards and two touchdowns, with Austin Hooper and Harrison Bryant ahead of him in the pecking order.”"

The Njoku trade rumors aren’t dying but it seems as though he’s content now with his role in Cleveland. As for the Browns, they’re not in any kind of cap trouble so releasing arguably their most complete tight end might not be the best move.
