There are plenty of reasons to be excited about the Cleveland Browns prospects in 2021. Not only were they in the playoffs and scored a win last year, but they also made some huge moves on the defensive side of the ball.
Lost in the additions — which include John Johnson III, Troy Hill, and Jadeveon Clowney — is the potential return to health of their second-round pick from 2020, Grant Delpit.
The safety from LSU tore his Achilles in camp last season, which was a terrible blow for the team. The good news is, Delpit says he’s on track to return for camp this season, which would give the rebuilt secondary yet another playmaker.

Delpit was considered by many to be a first-round pick but the Browns landed him in Round 2, which was very similar to what happened this season with Notre Dame linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. While Delpit would have surely helped last season, his return this year could really mean the entire defense is full of playmakers — which would be a vast improvement from 2020.

The talk about Baker Mayfield being better without OBJ was exaggerated. Sure, the numbers were better but that seemed to be a product of Mayfield having the light bulb come on in terms of the new system he was in. Still, Beckham will have to prove the doubters wrong, because if he starts out slow in 2021, they will be out in full force.
KhaDarel Hodge signing free agent tender with Browns today — Dan Labbe, Cleveland.com
"“Wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge is signing his restricted free agent tender with the Browns today, a league source confirmed for cleveland.com. The team had placed the right-of-first-refusal tender on the fourth-year wide receiver, worth $2.133 million.”"
Hodge has been a solid special teams player and continues to grow as a receiver. However, with Odell Beckham, Jr. returning from a torn ACL and Anthony Schwartz joining via the third round of the draft, it might be hard for him to make the team this season. Still, he knows the system well and has plenty of traits to admire.

"“Cleveland could possibly be looking to shuffle up their receiver group after this year. Moreover, they could also be looking for some depth and flexibility with the group they have now. That’s something that Jones, if they deem it a good investment, could address for them.”"
It’s hard to say Julio Jones wouldn’t make the Cleveland Browns better — because he would. But it still seems as though this front office won’t be interested at all. Still, it could be fun to picture an offense with Jones and OBJ out wide and Jarvis Landry in the slot. That’s without even mentioning the tight ends and insane running backs.
