Cleveland Browns: 5 best remaining free agent fits ahead of 2021 camp

2. S Tre Boston
Tre Boston would fill the same role that Hooker would; the deep centerfielder in Cover-1 looks. He had a rough 2020, but was played out of position for most of the year; he’s still one of the elite coverage safeties in the game today, and is a quality special teamer to boot.
Boston does not have the injury concerns that Hooker does, and while his ceiling may not be quite as high, it doesn’t really matter because he’s just a very good player when used properly.
Delpit is the closest thing the Browns have to a centerfielder, and aside from the aforementioned injury issue, using Delpit as just a free safety is a waste of his exceptional skill set. He has great athleticism, burst, and closing speed, very good ball skills, and elite coverage chops no matter his role, whether he’s back deep, playing two-high, in the slot, or manning up with a tight end.
Delpit can do basically everything extremely well, so he should be allowed to do pretty much everything rather than wasted far away from the ball.
Boston would allow the team to better utilize Delpit, Johnson, and Harrison while giving Joe Woods more freedom with his playcalling and scheme usage. For a value deal, he’d be a great addition to the defense.
