Cleveland Browns: 5 best remaining free agent fits ahead of 2021 camp
By Sam Penix
1. CB Gareon Conley
Bounce-back candidates are the theme on this list, and Gareon Conley is certainly that. The 2017 first-rounder has talent in droves and has put up some quality tape during his career, but has never been able to get into a groove due to injuries.
Complications from ankle surgery kept him out all of 2020, and his health may be the reason he has yet to find a new team.
If he can heal up, Conley makes a lot of sense for the Browns. He’d provide great athleticism and good depth on the outside, and offers size that isn’t really present in the cornerback room outside of Greedy Williams.
He’s an Ohio kid who probably wouldn’t mind the opportunity to compete for a Super Bowl with his hometown team and attempt to rebuild his value heading into the 2022 offseason. He hasn’t played much special teams throughout his career, but that will almost certainly have to change if he wants to turn things around.
The Browns have been busy this offseason, and while their roster is mostly set, general manager Andrew Berry will never leave a single stone unturned in his endless attempt to improve his team, and these six players would certainly do that.
