Cleveland Browns: 3 busts from 2020 that will flourish in 2021
By Greg Newland
Even though the Cleveland Browns ended a long playoff drought in 2020, they had some underperformers. These three will have redemption in 2021 though.
The Cleveland Browns had their most successful season since 1994 last year, and with a ton of momentum coming into the 2021 season, many believe this could be the year. Even though winning a Super Bowl is a huge challenge, the pieces are in place for the organization to have a legitimate chance.
After a challenging 2019 season, owner Jimmy Haslam completely rocked the boat. He relieved first-year head coach Freddie Kitchens and general manager, John Dorsey.
Dorsey brought a ton of talent to Cleveland and was an unsung hero for a short time. However, it was quickly seen that his spending wasn’t allowing the Browns to build for the future, and he was power-hungry.
Kitchens started as the quarterback coach in 2018, then was the head coach in less than 12 months. While he did a great job with offense in 2018, the head coaching job was just too much. It became clear Dorsey only chose him to have full control of the roster.
Now with A full season of Kevin Stefanski as head coach and Andrew Berry as the general manager, the organization has never been in a better position. They have a ton of young talent and continue to position themselves to extend current players and bring in free agents. In two full drafts, Berry appears to be a great talent evaluator as well.
While most things are on track for the Cleveland Browns, there are three players that struggled in 2020 for a multitude of reasons. Look for these three players to get back on track and be a huge reason for the Browns success in 2021.
