The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including a look at how they can ruin the Chiefs season in Week 1

Things will be tough for the Cleveland Browns right out of the gate in 2021. On the heels of their first winning season since 2007, the Browns will have to kick this season off with a road game against the two-time defending AFC Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.

For Cleveland, this could be a game where they can get some revenge on the Chiefs who beat them in the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs last season. It could also put a damper in the plans that Kansas City apparently has.

Recently, their quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke about the upcoming season and said that his team wants to have an unblemished record of 20-0 this season.

Today’s Daily Dawg Tags looks at how the Browns can use that as bulletin board material, while also ruining Mahomes’ plans as early as Week 1.

Opening day bulletin board material for Cleveland Browns? Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes eying perfect record in 2021 — Dave “Dino” DeNatale, WKYC.com

"“So there was already incentive for the Browns going into the September 12 matchup. Could Mahomes’ comments add a little fuel to the team’s fire before opening day?No one on the Browns will probably say it publicly, but wrecking Mahomes’ dream of a 20-0 season would be a nice added bonus, wouldn’t it?”"

As DeNatale also mentions in his article, the Browns haven’t won in Week 1 since 2004, which means simply starting out 1-0 would be a huge step in the right direction for them. But sure, the team would also love to show the Chiefs that they’re for real and this revamped defense can hang with Mahomes and his super-powered offense.

Having said that, the idea of ‘bulletin-board material’ might be a little overplayed. These are professional athletes, so they don’t typically need to be hyped up by something the opponent says. The real factor is often that teams who make the bulletin-board comments are typically overlooking an opponent — like the Steelers often do — and that’s what sets them up for failure.

Kansas City won’t be overlooking the Browns. Still, it would be nice to end any undefeated talk before it ever gets started.

Browns defense ranked best in AFC by CBS Sports — Jared Mueller, Browns Wire

"“A lot of hype for a defense that hasn’t spent any time together but the talent is there to backup that hype. Can the Browns defense put it all together in 2021 and prove CBS Sports correct?”"

Yes, there are some very talented names on the Cleveland defense but Mueller is right to point out that they haven’t spent any time together. There could be issues early on as they work on their communication but if everyone stays healthy, this could be one of the best defenses in the league by the time the season hits the critical stretch.

Comparing Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry to WRs in 2014 NFL Draft

Mitch Zoloty continues to look at some of the better players on the Browns roster and compares them to others in their draft class at the same position. This time, he looks at OBJ and Jarvis Landry who were both taken in the 2014 NFL Draft. How do they rank against Mike Evans, Davante Adams, and others?

3 busts from 2020 that will flourish in 2021

Not every player lived up to expectations in 2020 for the Browns, but Greg Newland believes these three can make up for that with a solid 2021 campaign.
