Cleveland Browns “what if” moment No. 3: Corey Coleman drop

2017 was one of the worst seasons for a fan for obvious reasons. Not only did the team find a way to go 0-16, but they also weren’t even competitive in most games. This is the one season I’ll admit, there were second halves of games I didn’t even watch it was so bad.

After dropping a home game in Week 14 to the Green Bay Packers who were without Aaron Rodgers, the last real chance the team had for a win was in Week 17 vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Keep in mind, it was 90 percent backups, as the Steelers had locked in their playoff position and had nothing to gain.

The Browns trailed most of the game but did keep it close. They gained some momentum at the end and finally found themselves with the ball and a chance for a game-winning drive. Down four, it would require a touchdown.

Cleveland started at their own 15-yard line and moved the ball all the way down to the Pittsburgh 27 where they found themselves with a 4th-and-2, with just under two minutes remaining. The ball was snapped and DeShone Kizer was under pressure. He snuck away and threw a perfect pass to Corey Coleman for a first down that bounced off his hands.

There’s no guarantee the Browns would have scored after that first down, but it certainly felt like they were about to break the curse before the drop. That was likely my most disappointing moment as a fan in my time of watching the Browns since 1999.
