The Cleveland Browns are in the midst of their voluntary OTAs and we have already seen a few positive stories surface during the workout

Unlike last year, the Cleveland Browns have been able to get together and put in some workouts this offseason. Not long after the draft, they had the Rookie Mini-Camp and now, they’re a couple of days into the voluntary OTAs.

There haven’t been a ton of workouts just yet and since it is voluntary, not everyone has shown up. But that doesn’t mean we can’t get some good tidbits from Berea.

Here, we look at three early takeaways from the Browns OTAs.

3. Starting offense hasn’t made the trip, but could soon

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com broke down how many players were in attendance and in doing so, she pointed out that many of the offensive starters were not working out. Of course, this could be one of those things that gets social media talking as questions are raised about why leaders such as Baker Mayfield and Jarvis Landry are not there.

Having said that, the main thing to remember is that this is voluntary. And players such as Mayfield, Landry, and Odell Beckham, Jr. have been in this league long enough to know how to prepare for the regular season. They’re also all entering year two in the Kevin Stefanski offense, so their comfort level is surely higher than it was last year when they didn’t even have the option.

Let’s also not forget that the Browns won 11 games last year with no offseason workouts, so they’re going to be fine.

What we really should take away from the comments from Mary Kay is how the defense has had a lot of players attend. This is actually more beneficial than the offensive players being there since there are so many newcomers. They’ll need the time together whereas an offense that returns all 11 starters doesn’t.
