The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know including Myles Garrett talking about being ready for Week 1 against the Chiefs

2021 will start where 2020 ended with the Cleveland Browns — Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

Cleveland lost in the Divisional Round to the Chiefs last year and they will kick off this coming season with a re-match of the defending AFC champions. And if we are being honest, the focus for both teams couldn’t be more different.

Patrick Mahomes is on one side talking about Kansas City running the table and going 20-0. As for the Browns, they’re focused on taking things one game at a time, which is (in my opinion anyway) the correct approach.

Recently, defensive end Myles Garrett even took some time to discuss the matchup, saying he and the Browns will have no problem showing which team is ready for the test in Week 1.

That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Myles Garrett: We’ll see who is ready Week 1 — Thomas Moore, Dawgs by Nature

"“I am glad (the Chiefs) have attendance, but just because they are getting work in at their facility does not mean that we are not working just because we are away. Our defense is getting the work in and working on their craft, just working from home. We have that freedom and that liberty. When we get to Game 1, we will see who has been gelling better and who has the upper hand.”"

Garrett also touched on his health, saying he feels fully recovered from a late-season bout with COVID. Having him in better conditioning while adding the other weapons they did this offseason means the Chiefs will be seeing a completely revamped defense, which is good for Cleveland.

Two AFC contenders ranked as having worst, third worst offseasons — Jared Mueller, Browns Wire

"“An even more impressive fade belonged to the Pittsburgh Steelers who started the year with 11 straight wins before losing five of their last six and getting unceremoniously dumped by the Browns in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs.Barnwell ranked them as the third-worst offseason in the entire NFL, just better than the Raiders and Green Bay Packers.”"

The real story here is the Steelers being ranked third-worst in offseason moves. We all knew the Raiders were going to reach in the draft and make questionable moves in free agency/trades.cuts, etc. That’s what Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock do.

However, Pittsburgh is usually pretty solid in the offseason. This time though, they re-signed a receiver who was a major distraction in 2020 and brought back Ben Roethlisberger despite what looked to be a decline late in the season as his surgically-repaired elbow gave out. This team is trending in the wrong direction and the timing of that is perfect for the Browns.

Could Malik McDowell actually make the roster?

Sam Penix is a fan of the talent Malik McDowell has and discusses whether or not he can make the roster in Cleveland. If he does — and if he’s ready to make good on his elite athleticism — this could be a steal for the Browns.

Just how valuable is Nick Chubb to the Browns?

We all know Nick Chubb is incredibly valuable. But J.T. Soderlund asks how valuable he is to the Cleveland Browns front office — a question that will be answered after this season when Chubb’s rookie deal runs out.
