1. S Sheldrick Redwine

Redwine was a bit of a surprise pick in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, given some of the players still on the board. He does provide a good deal of physical talent, though it’s not been shown on the field a whole lot because of mental errors. Despite a secondary ravaged by injuries, Redwine was called upon only when absolutely necessary, which is telling of how the coaching staff felt about him.

Talent is one thing; earning the trust of one’s coaches is another. Redwine will have a chance to impress Joe Woods and company this offseason, with the benefit of some continuity, entering year two in this defense.

Redwine can jump routes and make tackles, but doing either consistently has been a struggle for him. He’ll be at best fourth on the depth chart this season, and perhaps fifth behind rookie Richard LeCounte III, assuming the Browns keep five safeties, which is not a bad bet considering how often they plan to run three at a time.

There are, however, plenty of quality veterans still on the market, and perhaps Cleveland would prefer to bring one of them in as opposed to relying on Redwine in a pinch.
