The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including a look at whether or not they use their RBs on the field together

One thing that we didn’t get to see much of last season with the Cleveland Browns was an offensive package with both Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt on the field together. It would have brought an interesting dynamic but instead, they were often switched out for one another.

But does that mean there’s no chance of such a thing happening? It would give defenses another wrinkle to worry about and with Hunt’s ability as a receiver, it could be fun seeing him in a sort of fullback role heading out for the pass.

The idea was recently floated out to Terry Pluto of Cleveland.com as one of his readers asked about the two backs being used together. Pluto gave his answer, which leads off today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Will Browns have Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb on field together? Does OBJ change things? – Hey Terry — Terry Pluto, Cleveland.com

"“Stefanski now has had a full year with the Browns. He could be adding formations for Hunt and Chubb to play together. But I believe he prefers to keep them fresh and healthy. Chubb did miss four games last season with a knee problem”"

Pluto is probably right that Kevin Stefanski will continue to rotate the two players as he did in 2020. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t at least consider a formation with the two out there together. If anything, it would really force defenses to focus on the run and help open up the play-action game — which is an area where Baker Mayfield excels.

Kevin Stefanski didn’t get enough credit in coach rankings

The reigning NFL Coach of the Year is ranked seventh overall entering the 2021 season by Pro Football Focus. Sure, he’s a rookie so maybe they want to see him put up another good season before ranking him much higher but Zane Harris thinks he’s not getting enough credit.

PFF: Kevin Stefanski is not a top six play caller in the NFL — Jared Mueller, Browns Wire

"“The list just begs for questions starting with Marr LaFleur being ranked at the top, continuing with Andy Reid only ranked third, and finishing with questions about Jon Gruden and Joe Brady.Maybe even more notable than the Stefanski snub is not having Kyle Shanahan on the list and continues with the exclusion of Sean Payton and Sean McVay.”"

In addition to his head coaching duties, Stefanski called the plays for Cleveland in 2021 and did a great job. However, he was not one of the top-six play-callers according to a tweet from PFF which was questioned by Mueller. And the questions he brings up are very legitimate, especially with some of the other exclusions.
