5 worst moves of the Cleveland Browns 2021 offseason

1. RIsking Super Bowl hopes on the wide receiver room
The loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round of the playoffs was incredibly frustrating for a number of reasons, one of the chief being the inability of the wide receivers to separate against a subpar defense.
Baker Mayfield‘s job should not be nearly as difficult as it is. He is forced to be inordinately accurate because his receivers are consistently draped by defenders. They lack the ability to win down the field, and the offense must operate in a condensed area, leaving much of the field unused.
The addition of rookie speedster Anthony Schwartz and the return of Odell Beckham Jr. has the potential to fix this problem. But Schwartz is raw and will likely be brought along slowly, and Beckham Jr. has statistically not been himself since 2016. The team needs both of these players to be what they can if the offense hopes to take the next step.
The bottom line is if the Browns offense does not become more explosive and threatening through the air, they will not win the Super Bowl.
Combined, these receivers are talented enough to fix everything. Is it wise to count on them doing it? Perhaps not, but that is the situation the team has placed themselves in. Hopefully, the risk pays off, but adding another threat to the room would have been preferable.
