Whenever I’ve gone to the casino and I’m playing the slot machines and I’m winning a few extra dollars, I start to waiver on if I should keep playing to make that profit grow or walk away from the machine with any extra $20 in hand. That’s what some Cleveland Browns fans are starting to act like, in preferring the $20 and not going for the bigger prize when it comes to the next big contract possibility for the Browns star running back Nick Chubb.

Obviously, we fans don’t have a lot of say in the matter, but the Browns management and coaches are wavering those possibilities and I’m sure will make the wise move in keeping him in Cleveland for a long time, because they don’t see Chubb as a gamble in their future moving forward as some fans and those in the social media spheres would have you believe.

It truly bothers me when I hear those out there in world of social media and some Browns fans starting to say its ok to part with Nick Chubb because…

1. He’s just a running back and running backs are replaceable in the NFL

2. The NFL is a pass friendly league now and you can’t win a Super Bowl with a run game as a team’s primary focus

3. Because the Browns have to give big contracts to Baker Mayfield and Denzel Ward and others in the near future, that we don’t have the funds to support paying a running back like Chubb.

All of that reasoning is simply dumb.

Why? Because we’re talking about Nick Chubb and he’s not just some, run of the mill running back. He has meant more to this Browns franchise then any other player in ages.

Obviously, Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is very important but if you didn’t have Chubb on this team over the past three seasons these Browns would have been a very different team and would not have won games like they have, especially last season.

What Chubb is accomplishing so far for the Browns is better than any other former Browns running backs’ accomplishments, excluding Jim Brown in the history of the team and that says a lot when you consider some of the great running backs in Browns history.
