The Cleveland Browns had their first day of mandatory minicamps on Tuesday which was the first time we saw Jadeveon Clowney and Takk McKinley in orange and brown

Tuesday was the first day of practice for the Cleveland Browns as they started their mandatory minicamps and all the big names were there. After spending time together in Austin, Texas the entire offensive corps was on the field getting some work in.

Also seen in Berea was the collection of new defenders — which included two free-agent additions Jadeveon Clowney and Takkarist McKinley. Both defensive ends were former first-round picks, with Clowney going No. 1 overall out of South Carolina in the 2014 NFL Draft and McKinley landing with the Atlanta Falcons as the 26th overall pick in 2017.

Clowney is expected to start on one side of the line, with Myles Garrett on the other — which gives Cleveland two players who were taken first in their respective classes on the same line. It was also the first time the two were on the field together and while these practices aren’t padded, it was still an impressive day according to Mary Kay Cabot

The Browns beat reporter shared a video of the two working out, saying they “blasted through the bags one after the other” during a set of drills.

Also impressive was the glimpse we got of McKinley, who gives them a first-round talent with a lot to prove coming off the bench. Takk, who has 17.5 career sacks showed off his speed in a couple of drills, including a video shared by Nate Ulrich.

McKinley and Clowney were just two of the new defensive players added by the Browns in free agency as they also picked up John Johnson III, Troy Hill, Anthony Walker, and Malik Jackson. It’s a new-look defense, which is welcome after the struggles from last year.

We have a long way to go until the season kicks off and there’s plenty of work to do still as the Cleveland defenders learn to work together.

dark. Next. Denzel Ward wants to be around for the long haul

Tuesday’s practice was just the first step in that journey but it’s exciting nonetheless to see their new pass rushers sporting the orange and brown.
