Expectations are high for Baker Mayfield; can he deliver?

Familiar offensive system with playmakers for Baker Mayfield
The difference-maker though is coach Kevin Stefanski. You and I both know that now, and that is a huge relief. This team and Baker Mayfield will certainly have moments this season that we still scratch our heads in doubt, but this team and its quarterback have a better hold on their identity and playing for the week ahead and that will matter as the season unfolds.
Mayfield will have the cream of the crop, as far as the offensive talent around him. It starts with that tremendous offensive line. Then being able to pitch the ball to Kareem Hunt or Nick Chubb is that security blanket quarterbacks dream of.
To then be able to target tight ends, like Austin Hooper and David Njoku and throwing deep-out routes to a healthy Odell Beckham Jr. streaking down the sideline will be the icing on the cake this season.
There will be dropped passes and interceptions at unfortunate times in games. There will be fumbles and the offensive lineman will jump before the ball is snapped. But the Browns and Mayfield have the talent and playmakers.
Having Stefanski leading this team and that same offensive system will help too. The players will have this training camp, coming up in late July, to only get more precise on their routes or on their blocking assignments.
Mayfield will only improve with time and practice. And not having to start with a new playbook only makes what Mayfield can focus on even more valuable.
Last season, at the start, Mayfield was still feeling his way through the new offense of Stefanski’s and many questioned what exactly we were looking at. Mayfield found his rhythm as the season unfolded and had a tremendous second half to the season.
