Baker Mayfield is in a great position to take the next big step of his young career in 2021.

At some point, whether it be this offseason or next, Baker Mayfield will get an extension from the Cleveland Browns, solidifying the franchise’s faith in him to be the franchise quarterback for years to come.

Baker Mayfield has everything in place to make some serious noise in the NFL this upcoming season, but the biggest thing on his side is continuity and stability. For the first time in his career, Mayfield will enter training camp with the same head coach and offensive coordinator, meaning he won’t have to learn a completely new system.

This will be a major factor in Mayfield achieving these four bold predictions.

3. Baker Mayfield will pass for over 4,000 yards and lead the AFC North in passing yards

Mayfield has not thrown for over 4,000 yards in his first three seasons, but in 2021, he will.

Baker has been a true leader on and off the field and has even set up offseason throwing sessions with his wide receivers and tight ends to further boost the chemistry and comradery.

The closest Mayfield has come to the 4,000-yard plateau was back in 2019, when he threw for 3,827 in arguably the worst season of his three-year career. This year he has a returning cast of receivers and tight ends and even gets back Odell Beckham Jr. who will be sure to add a much-needed deep-threat, play-making ability to this stacked offense.

Last season Mayfield struggled in the first six weeks, but a lot of that has to do with a virtual offseason and no on-field chemistry with his receiving corps. Week 7 showed him take his game to another level and for the remainder of the season, he played at an elite level, especially after Week 12, minus the game against the Jets.

Back to Beckham for a second, it appeared that the two had little to no chemistry in the duo’s first two seasons together. Before going down with a season-ending knee injury, it seemed like Beckham was finding somewhat of a groove with Mayfield. This season Baker will be more confident running the offense and finding ways to get Beckham the ball in spots where he can make plays.

One final note on Beckham, he looks to be in phenomenal shape seven months removed from knee surgery.
