2. Baker Mayfield will throw fewer interceptions

For the first two years of his career, Mayfield threw 35 interceptions. In 2020 he cut the number from 21 down to eight.

In 2021, he will cut that number down yet again.

Now, even if he throws seven picks, that will be fewer than he threw in 2020. This will be a result of what was mentioned earlier, in the fact that he’s not learning a new offense and will be even more confident and comfortable steering the ship.

Mayfield proved over the final nine weeks of the regular season that he can make better decisions with the football, throwing just one pick. He was getting the ball out early and often and this allowed for him to get in a better rhythm.

It also helped that he had the best offensive line in football, giving him the necessary time and keeping him upright. That line comes back this season and the results should be really similar, barring any injuries popping up like they did last year.

Going back to the continuity and comfortability, along with the fact that he furthered his chemistry this offseason with his receivers, this could and should be huge for the success he and this team are expecting to have.

Winning in the NFL comes down to scoring points, obviously, and not turning the ball over. Baker will keep the ball away from the defense even less than he did a year ago.
