Three bold predictions for Cleveland Browns star running back Nick Chubb during his 2021 season

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb has proven to be one of the best running backs over the last three seasons and 2021 should be no different. Over his first three years in the league, Chubb has been giving opposing defenses fits. Depending on who you ask, he is arguably the best pure runner in the NFL.

The Cleveland Browns drafted Chubb in the second round back in the 2018 NFL Draft, the same draft that produced Baker Mayfield and Denzel Ward. He’s entering the final year of his rookie contract.

So far, the investment has been well worth the 35th overall pick the Browns used to draft Chubb.

Chubb is poised to have another stellar season behind the best offensive line in football and it is likely he can achieve these bold predictions.

3. He will get an extension and remain with the Browns

Cleveland general manager Andrew Berry will have a lot of decisions to make in terms of contract extensions and Chubb is one of the eligible players to receive one.

The running back position is a tricky one in regards to if the long-term investment is truly worth it. This is due to the shelf life of the rock carriers of the league, which is roughly 2.66 years. This is the result of a lot of wear and tear on the body.

Giving a running back a substantial raise can set a franchise back a few years if not done properly and carefully. Just look at Ezekiel Elliott and Todd Gurley for example.

More often than not, the running backs who sign mega extensions start to hit the decline a year or two into the new deal.

The window for the Browns to win a Super Bowl is wide open, and if Berry and company want that window to remain open for years to come, he will have to get creative should he decide to extend Chubb.

The former Georgia Bulldog has said he wants to remain in Cleveland with no desire of leaving.

If it were up to his backfield teammate, Kareem Hunt, Chubb would get a lucrative bag.

"“Please pay that man,” Hunt said, via Dan Labbe of Cleveland.com. “He’s a freak of nature. And he’s a brother to me, and I love what he does on and off the field. Just a great person and teammate.”"

When the deal comes remains to be seen, but Nick Chubb will get an extension to stay in the Orange and Brown. Look for a two-year deal worth around $25 million.
