Who are some of the current players from around the NFL that could find themselves on the Cleveland Browns roster in 2022?

We are less than a month away from the Cleveland Browns kicking off their 2021 training camp. That means most of the team’s current focus is on the upcoming season, but members of the front office are also preparing for what changes might have to happen to the Browns roster in 2022.

That’s how a good team stays that way — by always having one eye on the future. And so far in his short tenure as the general manager in Berea, Andrew Berry has proven that he’s one of those who always seems to be thinking several steps down the road.

With all that being said, we look ahead to the 2022 season and identify six players who could be targets for Cleveland.

6. Daniel Carlson, Kicker, Las Vegas Raiders

Availability: Free agent in 2022

After giving up on Austin Seibert, the Browns turned to a familiar face in Cody Parkey who was with the team in 2016. That season, he was a solid 20-of-25 for the Browns but his reputation took a huge hit when he had his very public struggles with the Bears in 2018.

Back on the Browns roster in 2020, Parkey again had plenty of success. He was 19-of-22 (86.4 percent) on field goals and 43-of-47 (91.5 percent) on extra points. He now enters this season with Chase McLaughlin as his competition for a spot but should be the kicker again.

However, that might not be the case in 2022 and one possible free-agent target to replace him is Daniel Carlson who is currently with the Las Vegas Raiders. A fourth-year player, Carlson was an impressive 33-of-35 (94.3 percent) for Vegas last season on field goals and 45-of-47 (95.7 percent) on extra points.

Having a trustworthy kicker is something every good team needs and that’s why Carlson could be a target for the Browns.
