The Cleveland Browns roster is loaded and there are several smart people from NFL circles who continue to say that it’s the most complete in the game heading into 2021

People who understand football also understand just how good the Cleveland Browns roster really is. Heading into the 2021 season, there seems to be one outlet after another calling this the most talented, or most complete roster in the NFL.

And now, Doug Lesmerises of Cleveland.com looks at why that is. Lesmerises recently hosted a podcast with Marc Ross as his guest, and the two discussed how talented this group is.

Ross, who works for NFL.com now spent 11 seasons in the New York Giants front office. After speaking with the former GM, Lesmerises came up with five reasons this team is No. 1 in terms of overall talent — starting with the fact that there really are no holes.

"“1. No gaping holes: There might not be obvious standouts at linebacker and defensive tackle, but there appears to be a reliable four-man rotation (at least) of veterans and young players at both spots. I don’t think you’d look at either spot and think a weakness there will ruin the season. Everywhere else is strong.”  — Lesmerises on why the Browns roster is No. 1"

He also discussed the offensive line, which is one of the best in the NFL — and that should give us all hope that the team can improve dramatically on defense. That might sound like a big jump to go from the O-line to defense, but the reason is sound.

Last year, Cleveland entered the offseason with an abysmal offensive line and GM Andrew Berry went to work fixing it. He added Jack Conklin in free agency and Jedrick Wills in the draft which solidified the entire unit.

Now in 2021, Berry went out of his way to improve the roster with players such as John Johnson III, Jadeveon Clowney, and Anthony Walker.

Another key thing hit in this piece was touching on the quarterback situation. According to Lesmerises, Baker Mayfield is capable of taking this team wherever they want to go. And he’s absolutely right.

In the end, the Browns have to put it all together and find a way to win but they do have the best roster in the NFL and smart people continue to say exactly that.
