Once again, Odell Beckham, Jr. has his name floated in a trade proposal but the Cleveland Browns are not moving on from the veteran wideout

It’s that time of year again where ideas get thrown around as we await the start of training camp. Because it’s such a dull period in the NFL right now, those ideas get a little crazy and it often leads to a rumor involving Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr.

Despite Beckham being a model citizen since joining the Browns, his name has been floated in one trade proposal after another, and it’s happened once again. This time, it’s Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report suggesting OBJ could be a player the Green Bay Packers target.

Now before anyone jumps down Gagnon’s throat, he did title the piece “NFL Trade Ideas That Would Shake Up the League in 2021” which is exactly what would happen if such a trade took place. Say what you will about Beckham, but putting his deep speed on the Packers roster would be the definition of a shake-up.

Gagnon isn’t saying this is a trade that has been proposed — and he’s not even suggesting it will happen. Having said that, the mere mention of a trade involving Beckham is often enough to get people riled up.

However, there’s no reason to get worked up because it’s simply not happening.

OBJ is going to be with the Browns this season no matter how many proposals are thrown out there. His deep speed is too valuable and there won’t be anyone else on this roster capable of commanding the attention of defensive backs the way he can.

Since joining Cleveland in 2019, Beckham has recorded 97 receptions for 1,354 yards with seven touchdowns. He has yet to really break out the way they hoped but he did deal with a disastrous season in 2019 and tore his ACL in Week 7 of the 2020 season.

It makes sense for the Browns to see what he can do after rehabbing and getting back to work for the second year in Kevin Stefanski’s offense.
