The Cleveland Browns begin training camp on July 27 in Berea, OH. Here is everything you need to pay attention to from storylines to position battles.

July 27th is when the Cleveland Browns will start their training camp in Berea, Ohio.

There will be no shortage of storylines or camp battles to watch as they look to continue their positive momentum from an 11-5 campaign.

This guide will touch on all the biggest storylines, position battles, and more as we approach the Browns 2021 training camp.

3 Most important additions

The Browns added several players in both free agency and the 2021 NFL Draft. Here we look at the three most important additions to the roster this offseason.

3. Greg Newsome II

Last year, the Browns were thin at cornerback after losing Greedy Williams to a nerve injury in his shoulder. Terrance Mitchell and Kevin Johnson both ended up playing more time than expected and Cleveland knew they needed to get better at this position in 2021.

One way they did that was by adding Troy Hill in free agency, a move that barely gets edged out here by the addition of Greg Newsome II. The Northwestern cornerback has plenty of talent but also dealt with some injuries of his own.

Even so, he’s one of the most important additions this offseason since they likely still have concerns about Williams.

2. Jadeveon Clowney

During the 2020 offseason, Andrew Berry and the Browns went after Jadeveon Clowney and reports suggested Cleveland offered him more money and years than the Titans did. But the Browns front office didn’t take offense to this as they just rolled up their sleeves and started to go after him again in 2021, this time landing the prized defensive end.

Now Clowney lines up opposite Myles Garrett which gives the Browns two No. 1 overall picks at defensive end. Each player will help the other since they’re both so used to being double-teamed, and now one will get more favorable match-ups more often than not.

1. John Johnson, III

As good as every other move was, nothing was better than the signing of John Johnson III. After watching the defense get torched week in and week out, Berry elected to go after the biggest name in free agency at safety, and he landed him.

Johnson will likely play the deep coverage and that could be a huge blessing for this defense as they look to improve in 2021.
