The Cleveland Browns have big hopes for 2021, but it doesn’t mean Andrew Berry isn’t thinking about the 2022 draft. Here is a 7-round projection.

The Cleveland Browns come into 2021 with extremely high expectations. The offense that performed so well last year didn’t lose any pieces, and the defense that was so bad has been upgraded at every single level.

General manager, Andrew Berry, has this team ready to compete for an NFL title now. Because of the expectations, it’s tougher to focus on next year’s draft, but you know the Browns front office has already done so.

Once a team gets over the hump and is ready to compete for a Super Bowl, the draft becomes far more important than free agency.  The Browns will have to spend a lot of money to keep some of their young talents around and will be forced to draft well in order to manage the salary cap.

Don’t stress this fans, the Browns are still in great shape when it comes to the salary cap.  With a big increase in the cap number next year, the organization is in a great position to extend Baker Mayfield, Denzel Ward, and explore options with Nick Chubb.  There are certainly others with deals expiring, but these will likely be the top three priorities in the next 12 months.

If everything goes as planned this year (knock on wood), and the Browns make it at least to the AFC Championship game, what’s next?  Where do the Browns need to focus to keep this roster competitive for years to come?

Below is a way too early 7-round mock draft for the 2022 NFL Draft, where the Cleveland Browns will focus on keeping the roster strong for another title run.
