The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including another look at trading for Stephon Gilmore

It’s an idea that has been floated several times in the past couple of years and has been brought up again as Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com was asked about the Cleveland Browns trading for cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

The New England Patriots star cornerback has been rumored to be on the move for a while now and Cleveland was seen as a fit due to their need at cornerback.

However, they added Greg Newsome II in the NFL Draft and Troy Hill in free agency which means they’re not as desperate for secondary help as they once were. But should they still look into getting better?

That’s one question that gets answered in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Cleveland Browns News

Will the Browns try to trade for a Stephon Gilmore or Xavien Howard? Hey, Mary Kay! — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“I don’t anticipate that happening at this point. The only way the Browns would trade for a big-name player such as a Gilmore or Howard in camp or early on in the season is if they lose one of their starting cornerbacks for the season.”"

Mary Kay is probably right that the Browns aren’t looking for a big trade at this point. Barring a major injury, as she pointed out, this is the team they’re going to go into the season with. Still, it’s fun to think about how hard it would be to move the ball through the air with Stephon Gilmore playing opposite Denzel Ward.

Could a Chandler Jones trade to the Browns make sense? — Jared Mueller, Browns Wire

"“Second, for the Browns, a deal could be difficult to pull off. While the team added Takk McKinley and Jadeveon Clowney this offseason, neither is the caliber of Jones. The contract is where things may get tough.”"

As Mary Kay stated in the previous tag, the Browns are probably done adding players — especially one who might be trying to get more money as Mueller hinted Jones could be looking to do.

Odell Beckham excited to be back on field, get the Browns a ‘needed’ ring

Grant Puskar was able to attend Odell Beckham’s youth camp and came away impressed with the work he did, but was even more interested in what OBJ had to say about the upcoming season. Not only did he say all the right things about rehabbing, but even said the city of Cleveland ‘needed’ a Super Bowl ring.
