1. Wide Receiver – Jarvis Landry

For some reason one speech on Hard Knocks made everyone fall in love with Jarvis Landry. And while I agree he is a good player and a tremendous leader; we have to remember the most important part of a player is his performance. And unfortunately, his performance doesn’t live up to the five-year, $15.1 million contract that he has.

Landry has had 3 solid seasons in Cleveland. He has totaled 2,990 yards and 13 touchdowns and has been a crucial part of helping change the culture. But, if you are going to get paid like a top-20 receiver in the NFL, you must play like one.

Remember, guys like Davante Adams, Stefon Diggs, and JuJu Smith-Schuster are making less money than Landry at the moment.  Adams has had two seasons in the last three years with more touchdowns than Landry has in the last three combined.

Landry’s biggest downfall? He isn’t an elite athlete. He has great hands and is shifty, but he can’t get off the line of scrimmage or create separation in man-to-man coverage. With two games a year vs. the Steelers and the Ravens, that isn’t a good combination.

The good news for the Cleveland Browns, there is an out for Landry as well at the end of the 2021 season. He still has $1.5 million of dead money, but the Browns can save over $13.5 million if they decide to move on.
