8 Cleveland Browns falling behind in training camp

2. Tony Fields II
It was a bit of a surprise to see the Browns select a second linebacker in the draft, and Tony Fields has been unable to prove himself because of an ankle injury, one that could be sending him to IR.
If that were to happen, it opens up a roster spot for someone like Mack Wilson. Fields was primarily going to be a special teams player as a rookie, and is listed as a SAM LB, interestingly enough.
The front office clearly likes him, but much like Felton, there may not be a role open for him right now, so stashing him on IR for the year could be best for both parties.
1. Jedrick Wills
Jedrick Wills’ roster spot is not in any jeopardy, nor is his starting role. But much is expected of him in year two given his impressive rookie season, and the offense needs him to take a step forward, both in his consistency as a pass protector and in his effectiveness as a run blocker.
It seems as if every day there have been reports of Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney beating up on Wills, which, to be fair, is sort of expected; Wills is a second-year player still adjusting to the left side, and Garrett and Clowney are two of the best edge defenders in the game.
Wills should end up being just fine when he isn’t facing an All-Pro caliber player on every snap, but it would be nice to see a headline saying something to the effect of “Garrett and Clonwey stonewalled by Wills on Thursday”.
