2. RB/WR Demetric Felton

A converted wide receiver, Felton played running back his final year at UCLA, and was expected to explore both roles with the Browns. Thus far, however, he’s been almost exclusively a receiver, which makes it somewhat difficult to place him on the roster, given the amount of talent ahead of him on the depth chart. The team will be keeping six at the very most, and KhaDarel Hodge, entirely deserving of a spot, is not 100% safe.

Felton may not be a pure receiver, but he played quite well as one in his NFL debut. Functioning as the slot, he caught four of his six targets for 44 yards, making some nice grabs on third down to convert. He resembled a certain Browns slot receiver, although at less than 5% of the cost.

It may not happen much this season, but Felton has a future with this team, both as a runner and a receiver. Special teams are where he’ll need to earn his keep right away, and he gained just 10 yards on his lone kick return, so that will need to improve. His versatility is his calling card, and it will be what gets him onto the roster, even if he’s far down the depth chart on offense.
