Practice anyone?  A practice squad regular

There was eagerness back in 2018 by the New York Giants as Lauletta was considered a possible replacement for then struggling Giant veteran quarterback Eli Manning. However, Lauletta never replaced Manning as the starter. He made a very brief appearance as the quarterback in a win against the Washington Football Team back in 2018 but that was it.

Since that season, Lauletta, now 26 years old, has danced around the league primarily as a member of various NFL team’s practice squads. He’s had stints with the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons and was picked up by the Browns a year ago for the same purpose.

Can he potentially get his next big opportunity now with the Browns and become a legitimate back up on the team or continue to settle for a practice squad member? Though I will say when I checked in on Lauletta’s annual salary for being a practice member of the Browns which is now expected to be $780,000 annually, according to overthecap.com, I was a bit taken aback.

Not bad at all for settling. The two year deal he signed with the Browns is due to increase to 895,000 in 2022. For comparison’s sake, the Browns current back up quarterback Case Keenum, who’s 33 years old, will earn over $7.1 million in salary this next season according to overthecap.com.
