Who is Kyle Lauletta? 3 things to know about Cleveland Browns rising QB candidate
By John Suchan
Lacrosse, anyone?
Back in his hay day, not only was Lauletta a star at quarterback for his high school team of Downingtown East High School, he also was gifted lacrosse player. Phillylacrosse.com noted that Lauletta was given first team honors his senior year in his high school’s league lacrosse awards and recorded 56 goals and assisted 17 times.
Much of the conversation surrounding Lauletta coming out of college was his good footwork in the pocket. His ability to move and throw the ball well were all impressive qualities that NFL teams took note of when he was being evaluated.
Some of that natural skill set of playing well off of play action and rolling out to either side of the field and his excellent accuracy on the run were all duly noted by many Browns fans after this past preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Lacrosse isn’t the NFL but having those skill sets and being able to move very fluidly are all helpful to an athlete like Lauletta. And though he might have traveled from one practice squad to the next, he’s still in the NFL, competing.
Does Lauletta have an opportunity this season to move up the ladder to the back up roll for the Browns at quarterback?
Part of that answer is tied to his work he displays the rest of this preseason with the Browns.
It could become a more serious discussion if Lauletta can go out this next week against his old team, the Giants and shows out under the lights down at First Energy Stadium on Sunday.
