Browns Roster: Running Back (5)

Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, D’Ernest Johnson, Demetric Felton, Andy Janovich

The top two running back positions will not be touched in Cleveland. The Browns have one of the best in the entire NFL in Nick Chubb, who just signed a nice three-year extension which will keep him with the team that drafted him through the majority of his prim.

Behind him is Kareem Hunt, who was the No. 1 rusher in the NFL as a rookie in 2017 while with the Kansas City Chiefs. Hunt has not only rehabbed his image but he’s also helped form the absolute best backfield tandem in the NFL.

They also have D’Ernest Johnson who could probably be a solid No. 2 running back for plenty of teams. In Cleveland, however, he’s relegated to the third spot at best. He likely won’t even be used unless Chubb or Hunt suffer an injury but he showed in Week 4 against Dallas last season that he’s incredibly valuable should that ever happen. He also looked good in their first preseason game while Demetric Felton seemed to be used more in the slot.

Felton is still listed as a running back on the team’s unofficial depth chart so we list him there as well, but he will help at receiver just as much. And as a rookie, that could be his primary way to get onto the field.

Lastly, we have Andy Janovich. Johnny Stanton is a solid option but Janovich is one of the best fullbacks in the NFL. He should still be on the 53-man Browns roster when the season begins.
