Cleveland Browns Preseason finale reactions: Baker Mayfield ready for big season

Cleveland Browns defensive standouts
We’ll start with Malik McDowell, the Browns defensive tackle who has really played well in the last two preseason games. Tonight, he was at it again as he was taking care of offensive linemen for the Falcons by bulldozing them several times, sometimes with just one arm, and treating them like they were JV players on a high school team.
He was credited with two tackles and a half-sack on the night. McDowell, who was a late pick up by the Browns is certainly making a strong case to make the final 53 man roster.
Jordan Elliot, another defensive tackle, who the Browns took out of Missouri a year ago in the draft, is also fighting for one of those final spots on the roster. He made the most of his chances in this game as he was spotted in the backfield of the opposition several times being credited with three tackles and recovering a fumble as well.
Veteran defenders returned too and Browns safety John Johnson III and linebacker Anthony Walker made their presence felt early on. Johnson was credited with two tackles and Walker was in on three tackles.
Having them out there just felt better for a team that has struggled especially in secondary defense. Their speed and instincts for finding the ball will certainly help the Browns this season.
