Cleveland Browns Running backs
In the first series of the game Browns star running back Kareem Hunt got a few plays in to shake off the rust as well. Besides that very brief moment, running back D’Ernest Johnson solidified his chances at making the team as the primary backup. He finished his first-half stint going for 11 yards on three carries. But where he stood out was as a receiver, finishing with 5 catches for 44 yards.
The rookie sensation Demetric Felton, out of UCLA, continued his impressive preseason with four rushing attempts for 15 yards. He also had a nice 37-yard kickoff run back to put the Browns in good field position. Felton’s key to making this team is his versatility, as he can perform several different roles and perform them all well.
How much room is left in the running back room? John Kelly continued his good preseason by carrying the ball with determination finishing with a workhorse-like 10 carries and 30 yards. He also took a nice screen pass for 26 yards.
Johnny Stanton, the Browns No. 2 fullback had a nice game tonight too as he finished with three runs for 12 yards and caught a pass for four yards as well in this one.
So can the Browns keep all these players? It’ll be interesting to find out come Tuesday when final cuts are made to get down to 53 players.
