3. Marvin Wilson, DL

Marvin Wilson was signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent earlier this offseason. They outbid just about every other team for his services, and many were excited about adding the former Florida State Seminole to the defensive line that already had other impressive additions in 2021, like defensive ends Jadeveon Clowney and Takk McKinley.

Wilson, however, didn’t make much of an impact in practice nor the three preseason games, thus finds himself on the waiver wire. Oftentimes, he was getting pushed around by the offensive line, not able to set himself and shed the blocks needed in order to make a play as he did so often in college. His inability to gain leverage against the offensive linemen meant that not only did he struggle, but the linebackers behind him had to work harder to make a play, as the hole they expected to be there was non-existent.

Marvin Wilson is a player that can be really special in time, however, While he disappointed in the 2021 preseason, he has all the potential to be an impact player on the defensive line in the NFL with a little bit of work and seasoning. The Browns have to wait to ensure he clears waivers, but should want the defensive lineman back to continue working with him, and trying to ensure he reaches his full potential with their team, and not another one.
