Cleveland Browns: Myles Garrett ruining Justin Fields debut
By Randy Gurzi
Justin Fields is making his debut as a starting quarterback against the Cleveland Browns and Myles Garrett and his teammates are ruining the day
After starring for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Justin Fields finds himself making his first career start in the same state as he and the Chicago Bears are facing the Cleveland Browns at First Energy Stadium.
While Fields had a ton of success in Columbus, that hasn’t been the case so far in Cleveland. He led the Bears to a quick 3-0 lead before the Browns tied ut up but overall, Fields has been having a hard time moving the ball.
The main reason is the front seven for the Browns as Myles Garrett and company have been in the backfield constantly.
After three drives, FIelds has been sacked three times for a loss of 20 yards. The first of those came courtesy of Jadeveon Clowney, who took him down for his first sack in the orange and brown.
Then on their third drive, Fields was sacked two times in a row and Garrett was in on both plays.
First, it was a shared sack as No. 95 and rookie linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (who is playing incredible defense so far) who both took Fields down to force a third-and-14. Then Garrett broke through on the next play and took Fields down again, forcing another punt.
Cleveland’s defense struggled through the first two weeks of the season but in Week 3, they’ve been making life hard on Fields as they look to move to 2-1 on the season.
With seven new starters, it shouldn’t be a shock that the Browns defense needed time to gel. But that’s happening now and the timing couldn’t be worse for Justin Fields.
