Cleveland Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah was a guest on The Jim Rome Show and discussed the speed of the NFL game as well as the showdown with Minnesota

Rookie linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah already looks like he belongs in the NFL. The Cleveland Browns rookie second-round pick has appeared in all three games for the Browns and has started two of them.

So far, he’s recorded 10 tackles, three pass defenses, and had a half-sack in the team’s defensive masterpiece against Chicago. The numbers might not be mind-boggling but he’s still making an impact despite never playing more than 51 percent of the team’s snaps in a given weekend.

What’s more important, however, is how smooth he’s looked. JOK is moving around the field like a veteran and seems to be playing much quicker than most rookies.

That’s exactly what Jim Rome noticed as he had JOK on his show recently and asked him if the game is slow for him because he seems comfortable and appears to be “reacting” rather than having to overthink.

Owusu-Koramoah responded by saying “I wouldn’t say that I’m there yet” and then he added that he’s “still working, still progressing.”

He did add that the game is slowing down some as each week passes and knows it will get better the more he’s able to play. Even so, his humility was on display as he avoided going the route of some other rookies who say the game isn’t as fast as they thought it would be.

Rome also asked him about the difference between the collegiate game and the pros. JOK said that the biggest difference is the mental aspect. He says there are plenty of big and physical players in the NCAA but that he needs to understand the offense he’s facing much more at this level.

From there, they discussed the Minnesota Vikings, who Cleveland will play in Week 4. The rookie said to throw the record out because this is a good team who has a lot of different looks that Cleveland hasn’t seen yet.

The Browns landed a steal in Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and he knows he can continue to get better — which is scary for opposing teams.
