Cleveland Browns Bold Prediction No. 1: OBJ scores twice
Week 3 marked the return of Odell Beckham, Jr. to the Browns lineup as he played in his first game since suffering a torn ACL back in Week 7 of the 2020 season. Cleveland wisely took it slow as they made sure he was 100 percent healthy before throwing him back out there and although his numbers weren’t earth-shattering, he did play very well.
Beckham ended the day with five receptions for 77 yards — and he nearly had more as he pulled in an acrobatic catch downfield that would have been a huge gain but he just couldn’t stay in bounds.
It was an appetizer for what could be in store with Beckham, and offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt clearly feels the same way. The second-year Browns OC says that they need to continue to get the ball in the hands of OBJ, and that it will be easier to do the more the season progresses.
"“Obviously, we have to get the ball in our best players’ hands, and Odell is one of those guys, but not at the expense of jeopardizing the offense and the system. Yeah, there was some growth in that area for sure. O will continue to be a big part of this offense moving forward, and he will continue to have more catches and more production as the year goes on.” — Van Pelt on Odell Beckham’s."
In this final bold prediction, the ball finds its way to OBJ early and often as he crosses the goal line twice in Week 4.
Beckham and Baker Mayfield have shown they’re finally on the same page and that will be more evident than ever on Sunday.
