Cleveland Browns Stud: Greedy Williams

Don’t call it a comeback, even if that’s exactly what it should be called. Starting in his first game since his rookie season, Greedy Williams played what may be his best game in the NFL to date on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Starting in place of injured rookie cornerback Greg Newsome, Greedy played excellent in coverage and secured his first career interception in the fourth quarter on a play that helped seal the game for the Cleveland Browns.

Williams has been plagued by injuries throughout his young career, having missed four games in his rookie season, and all 16 games of the 2020 season due to a nerve injury in his shoulder.

In 2021, on the outside looking in on the depth chart, Williams waited his turn and took advantage of it, reminding everyone why he was a second-round draft pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He not only finished Sunday with the interception in the fourth quarter but also had several secure tackles and playing lock-down defense in a few one-on-one, man coverage situations.

Should Greg Newsome miss more time with his injury, Greedy has proven that he can be counted on to step into that role and fill those shoes very well. Having someone with as much talent as he does as your third option at cornerback is a luxury that the Browns are loving at a time like this.
