Cleveland Browns trade piece No. 1 – David Njoku

The trade that has made sense from the beginning is David Njoku. He is in the fourth year of his rookie deal which has the fifth-year option exercised, but Cleveland just isn’t the perfect fit for him. Njoku is a freak athlete who is meant to be in a wide-open offense that throws the ball vertically. He can block and is much improved in this offense, but he is way underutilized for his talents.

Even in a bad system, Njoku continues to make plays for the Browns. He is a guy that seems to find a way to get open on third downs, and Baker Mayfield appears to have strong chemistry with the talented tight end.

I would hate to see the Browns move on from him, but with Austin Hooper and Harrison Bryant already on the roster, Njoku may be a strong chip to get a big return. Look at a team like the Minnesota Vikings? They are so limited at tight end; they may be willing to give up a ton to get a starting caliber guy like Njoku.

Because the salary cap isn’t a huge issue for the Cleveland Browns now, there is no rush at all to move on from any of these guys, but especially Njoku. But, if the offer is right, all three of these guys could be potential trade pieces.
