Daily Dawg Tags: Cleveland Browns get good news on injury front
By Randy Gurzi
The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including some of their key players returning to practice
Week 5 was rough for the Cleveland Browns, and not just because they lost a big lead. It was also hard to watch as one player after another kept leaving the game due to an injury.
With Greg Newsome II, Jedrick Wills, and Jadeveon Clowney already out, Cleveland saw Denzel Ward leave early while Greedy Williams, Jack Conklin, A.J. Green, and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah were all banged up at one point.
The good news is, on Wednesday some of those players returned. All of their injured corners practiced on a limited basis as did left tackle Jedrick Wills. Unfortunately, there were a lot of players who sat out, including both running backs and defensive ends — although expectations remain high that they will all play.
That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.
Cleveland Browns news
"“There was good news on the Browns’ cornerback front as they began preparations for the Cardinals on Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium. Denzel Ward (neck), Greg Newsome II (calf) and Greedy Williams (shoulder, knee) all practiced on Wednesday and all three were limited.”"
While it’s not fun seeing so many names still out, getting some of their secondary back is a huge plus for this team. Facing DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green, Christian Kirk, and Rondale Moore with a bunch of reserves would be a nightmare.
3 Browns Players Who Need to Step Up for a Cleveland Playoff Push — Joe Tansey, Bleacher Report
"“Takkarist McKinleyThe Browns need support around Myles Garrett to threaten opposing quarterbacks every week.”"
His name is not one of the first that comes to mind when thinking of the Cleveland defense but maybe it should be. Takk McKinley has played well this season and did a good job in place of Jadeveon Clowney in Week 5. Even when Clowney is at full strength, Takk is a player who excels at generating pressure, and having him playing at a high level will make a playoff appearance that much more obtainable.
Odell Beckham one of 4 Cleveland Browns whose stock plummeted after Week 5 loss
Greg Newland believes there are a few members of the Browns organization who saw their stock fall in Week 5. OBJ is one of them, as is the head coach — Kevin Stefanski. Both can go for redemption in Week 6 against Arizona.
