Cleveland Browns Bold prediction No. 2: Baker Mayfield throws more TD’s than Kyler Murray

Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray share numerous accomplishments, such as winning the Heisman Trophy while quarterbacking the University of Oklahoma, as well as being selected with the first overall pick in their respective NFL drafts. Now both Texas-bred quarterbacks are making their way in the NFL, looking to gain respect and wins along the way.

So far in 2021, Murray has the upper hand on his former college teammate, as he’s leading the league’s only undefeated team and is gaining steam as an MVP candidate. Mayfield, on the other hand, is still trying to regain his footing from his 2020 campaign. With only four passing touchdowns through five games, Mayfield’s doubters are once again beating their chests.

Although Mayfield is leading his team to victories, he has yet to have a signature moment this season. That changes this week, as Mayfield will outduel his former understudy by throwing three touchdowns to Murray’s two touchdown throws. The performance might not be enough to hush his staunchest critics, but the three-touchdown game will buy Mayfield some goodwill when it comes to his national perception.

However, it should be noted that none of that will matter to Mayfield and it will be more of a victory for Mayfield’s supporters. All that matters to Mayfield will be going undefeated this week, well that and the bragging rights with his former backup. That is the game within the game.
