Jarvis Landry designated to return to Browns practice
By Greg Newland
The Cleveland Browns will get Jarvis Landry back to practice this week which is a great sign. Will he be able to play on Sunday vs. the Cardinals?
The Cleveland Browns continue to receive good news on the injury front. There appear to be a lot of question marks at offensive tackle on Sunday, but the defense looks to be getting healthy, and Jarvis Landry will be returning to practice on Friday after missing the last three games.
This is a great sign as the offense has certainly struggled without him. In the Week 1 loss to Kansas City, Landry has five catches on five targets for 71 yards. The offense has still put up points in his absence, but there’s no doubt the unit should get a bump from his return.
Here’s the bad news, just because the Browns have designated Landry back to the roster, it doesn’t necessarily mean he will be activated to the active roster by Sunday. Although he can practice, it does not mean he will be playing on Sunday vs. the Arizona Cardinals.
Landry is a complicated one for me. I often struggle that the Cleveland Browns are paying over $15 million per year for his services, but there is no doubt he brings a big value to the offense. He isn’t the biggest wide receiver, he isn’t the fastest wide receiver, and he isn’t the quickest wide receiver.
Landry does have the full respect of the team, runs great routes, and has tremendous hands. Not to mention he has shown a great willingness to block in the run game. Although he isn’t the most talented guy on the offense, he certainly has a way of making the rest of the roster play better.
Let’s hope Landry’s return will also bring a bump to the production of Odell Beckham Jr.
