Scouting Ahead: Cleveland Browns week 7 opponent, Denver Broncos
By Colin Damms
No matter who plays, they must be ready
The current Browns injury report is a nightmare for everyone who gives a damn about the team. Seriously, it’s such a depressing read. If you can think of a Browns player that you’re excited about in any way they’re most likely suffering from something.
Still, this is the nature of the NFL. It isn’t fair, but it is what it is. So what can Kevin Stefanski do?
He can do his job and make sure the team that goes out to play knows its job and won’t shoot itself in the foot. The early hole the Browns found themselves in on Sunday was the result of penalties and miscommunication.
Not having Jedrick Wills or Jack Conklin again would be costly, but even if that is the case the staff have to be ready. The “do your job” mentality must resonate through the whole team.
If he plays on Thursday, Baker Mayfield will be motivated to make up for the last two losses. Unfortunately not only is his health in question, but most of his starting offensive line and wide receivers are as well.
It’s a truly abysmal injury situation Kevin Stefanski finds himself in, but as head coach, he has to make do on a short week. He needs to make certain that everyone who has to play against the Broncos is ready to do so.
Costly mistakes in protection and penalties cannot be afforded no matter who is under center, otherwise, they’ll be in a hole against a solid pass defense once again.
