What Cleveland Browns player on offense will shine Thursday?

With both starting running backs out for this game and maybe a few more to boot, the Browns are going to get some new blood in running backs D’Ernest Johnson and John Kelly. Both did a nice job in the preseason but this is the real deal. Johnson has had a few opportunities in the past that were impressive. If the broken-down offensive line can somehow create some gaps then Johnson could have a nice game.

The highlight of Johnson’s brief career in the league occurred a year ago when he replaced an injured Nick Chubb in the Browns’ big win against the Dallas Cowboys at Jerry World. Johnson ran 13 times that game for 95 yards. So that opportunity is there tonight for Johnson.

Johnson played collegiately at South Florida where didn’t exactly run up the yardage but still produced. Both his junior and senior campaigns at South Florida had seven and eight touchdowns respectfully. His four-yard a carry collegiate average hopefully will carry over tonight.

The other player that I’m predicting will have a good game again for the third week in a row is that player from the Michigan Wolverines, Donovan Peoples-Jones.

Jones was only targeted four times by Baker Mayfield in the first four games of the season. That has changed abruptly as he’s grabbed five catches two weeks ago in the Los Angeles Chargers game and four catches in last week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals that went for a career-best 101 yards at two touchdowns.

I had my doubts coming into the season on Peoples-Jones’ progress and especially after the first few games of the season. However, he’s becoming a reliable outlet for the quarterback and I can foresee Keenum trying to get the ball to him in this game.
