Cleveland Browns player who won’t return No. 4: Ronnie Harrison

When the Browns were in need of help at safety ahead of the 2020 season, general manager Andrew Berry made a great move to add some depth. Berry struck a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars to add Ronnie Harrison for a mere fifth-round pick.

Harrison ended up being a great addition, staring seven of 11 games played and recording 38 tackles, seven passes defensed, and an interception. The only issue he had at all in 2020 were some durability concerns as he missed five games due to injury and had to go to the sideline a couple of other times during other contests.

So far in 2021, he’s been much more durable although he did get ejected in Week 1 for shoving a Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach — although the coach was allowed to stay in despite being the one to instigate things.

Harrison has also started every game this season and is again proving to be a solid member of the defense. So why would he make the list as a player who might not be back in 2021?

It all comes down to his contract. Harrison will be a free agent and with his performance over the past two seasons, he’s likely to get a big offer on the open market. With Cleveland already committed to John Johnson and having a young player to develop in Grant Delpit, that could lead to Harrison finding a new home in 2022.

Throw in his penchant fo terrible penalties — like the one he got on Sunday for a late hit — and it seems as though this is a forgone conclusion.
