Is the Odell Beckham Jr. era over in Cleveland?
By Greg Newland
Things are turning ugly quickly, and it appears the Cleveland Browns could soon be moving on from star receiving Odell Beckham Jr.
Things could be turning ugly for the Cleveland Browns sooner than later, and Odell Beckham being excused from practice on Wednesday is just another sign that he could be released as early as today.
What sparked this?
On the day of the trade deadline, OBJ’s father posted a video showing the star receiver open and Baker Mayfield not throwing him the ball. There were also multiple comments bashing the Cleveland quarterback.
What came next? On Wednesday morning Josina Anderson reported that Odell Beckham was excused from practice by the Cleveland Browns. What’s even more alarming, it sounds like OBJ was going to report to practice as normal, and this was not his decision.
It’s hard to speculate, but it appears his days in Cleveland are done, and he certainly won’t be on the field this Sunday as the Browns take on division rival, the Cincinnati Bengals, who lead the AFC North now.
What is strange is there were reports that a few teams were interested in trading for the star receiver. The New Orleans Saints were rumored as one interesting party, which makes this move a little puzzling.
Why not get something in return for the star?
Even with them missing on the compensation, I think moving on from the receiver would be the correct decision. It appears the drama is too much to overcome, and if the Browns stand a chance to recover this season, it must be without the services of OBJ.
He’s certainly talented, but the drama and lack of production is not worth it.
